Where should I put the robots.txt file?

At the root of your domain: yourwebsite.com/robots.txt. It must be accessible without authentication.

Does Disallow block all crawlers?

It is a convention, not a technical restriction. Most reputable crawlers respect it; malicious scrapers typically ignore it.

Does robots.txt prevent a page from appearing in Google?

Disallowing a URL prevents Google from crawling it, but the URL can still appear in search results if other sites link to it. Use noindex for full exclusion.

What is crawl-delay?

A directive asking crawlers to wait N seconds between requests. Google ignores it — use Google Search Console to control Googlebot's crawl rate.
